We all have a shadow. As a Scorpio I’m naturally attuned to mine. It probably doesn’t look like it from an outward perspective but when I’m crashing and burning you better believe its for my greater good.

Shadow integration is hot right now, and its likely you’ve heard about getting on the side of your shadow and inviting your demons to tea or suffer the consequences…

That which we keep hidden WILL come out, eventually, and bite us in the ass. And when it does come knocking, believe me, it ain’t pretty…

when your demons come knocking it may look something like this,

Misanthropic anthrophobia, a.k.a the fear and mistrust of people.

Wanting to hide, a lot

Nothing is working!

Everything you thought you were is wrong

You start connecting with others who offer you a different perspective

Your pretty sure you’ve gone insane

So, now what?

You’ve quit your soul sucking job, your friends don’t get you anymore, and that POS trailer in the woods you’ve been contemplating is looking more and more like a sanctuary for the gods.

Going insane is starting to feel like the new normal.

Your tired and alone and confused, what is happening?

This is the part where you start digging. Deconstructing what you thought was true and getting brutally honest with yourself.

The big questions start pelting you with a vengeance.

Who am I really? What do I like, What do I want to do and Who do I want to be?

So many of us try on many different hats to please those around us,to fit in. we need to be a part of a tribe lest we are devoured by a saber-tooth tiger in the night.

Our brains are hard wired for survival, our egos to keep us safe, and society has given us all the rules to follow so we can continue our structured, civilized, automaton, cookie cutter lives.

The demons come knocking to free us. they make us turn and face our true selves so that we can look in the mirror and say “ Hey! I love you, you old spinster, you childless, filthy, wild thing!”

When we learn to love ourselves as we are, we are free to love and accept others as they are too.

When we finally can face the shadow parts of ourselves and not only accept but love them, we begin to find our freedom. We no longer feel alone or wrong or bad(this takes time, trust me)

when we no longer disapprove of ourselves, its hard to disapprove of others because we aren’t projecting our limiting beliefs and misguided truths on to them.

These particular shadows no longer have power over us, but there is always more to dig up

Allow for outrageous new ideas, even if you think they are crazy, and they feel like the opposite of what your fragile sensibilities tell you. when you come across an idea that sounds bonkers that is the ego keeping you safe. Gently tell it to screw off, and learn something new.

Sure if getting into a cage surrounded by sharks or becoming an Aghora who eats dead human flesh isn’t your thing, great, at least you can make an objective choice. Don’t allow others to choose your path for you, this is your life! LIVE IT.

To be free one must let the persona you once were die, kill her if you must, and allow the true self to emerge, when this happens you can create who you want to be.

The trick is to recognize the limiting beliefs you’ve been carrying around so that you can decide who you really are, not who you’re parents, friends, and society at large expect you to be, this is a prison of the soul, get free!

Burn it down and rise!
